The thought of giving a speech can seem daunting, but I assure you it won't be if you are prepared. People do not expect you to be perfect, but they want a speech to be honest, easy to comprehend, and delivered clearly and concisely. Here are some tips to help you achieve this:
1. Be simple. It is best to use a simple outline. You'll want an introduction, main points with supporting details and a conclusion. Avoid complex language and try to keep it as simple as possible.
2. Add details. By having a simple structure, you can bring in details to make your speech interesting. Use variety when compiling information (e.g. personal anecdotes, newspaper, media quotes, statistical studies, examples, fun definitions). If you want to add style, try repetition, word play or rhetorical questions.
3. Know your audience. Why are these people coming to hear you speak? What do they want or need from this speech? Put yourself in their shoes. Are they learning about this subject for the first time or peers who already understand the basics of the subject? Think about these things and then write your speech accordingly.
4. Beating nervousness. First of all, it is imperative that you know your audience. This will wipe out any fear of not knowing what to say. If you are over-prepared you will automatically be less nervous. Also, know what your opening line is to help take away the anxiety of getting started. Lastly, practice, practice, practice! If you have already given your speech several times, it won't feel like the first time.
5. Body language. Be sure to stand tall, smile, and avoid lots of body movements. Too much motion can distract the audience. Keep your hands and arms in an open position because you will look more confident. Finally, talk slowly and remember to breathe!

Attributes Of Successful People
Success of some kind is something that most of us aspire to accomplish. Many people have a hard time of it and don't understand why. In this article you will find out the attributes most often found in successful people so you can do these things too and enjoy the benefits for yourself. One thing you do need to understand is that most people that have success, have earned it. Yes, earned it. They deserve their success because they have worked hard for it. If success was easy everyone would have it. Are you willing to do what it takes? Read this article and then decide if truly being successful is right for you.
In life successful people are driven to accomplish their goals. Whether you're looking to heal a relationship, get a new job/ start a new business, lose weight, find inner peace...consider these characteristics, which are common to people who succeed.
1) Vision: Successful people get what they want because they know what they want. They have a vision that keeps them motivated and efficiently on track. They see it, feel it, and experience it in their minds and hearts. What do you want to achieve? How would that affect your life? How would it feel to have succeeded in accomplishing your goal? You need to know what it feels and looks like to get there. You MUST know what you're going for.
2) Strategy: People who consistently win have a clear and thoughtful strategy. You must make a thorough plan of what you need to do and when you need to do it. You need to write it down and stay on course. Avoid any alternative that does not get you closer to the finish line.
3) Passion: Are you excited to get up in the morning? People with a passion are, and they're energized about what they are doing. You need to live and breathe what it is that you want, and be passionately invested in both the journey and the goal.
4) Truth: People who consistently win have no room in their lives for denial, fantasy or fiction. They are self-critical rather than self-deluding, and they hold themselves to high but realistic standards. They deal with the truth, since they recognize that nothing else will make their vision obtainable.
5) Flexibility: Life is not a success-only journey. Even the best-laid plans sometimes must be altered and changed. Be open to input but think it through and consider potentially viable alternatives. Be willing to be wrong and be willing to make corrections. Sometimes you need to take some steps backwards or even start over to make corrections that get you better to success.
6) Risk: People who consistently win are willing to get out of their comfort zone and try new things. Be willing to plunge into the unknown if necessary, and leave behind the safe, unchallenging, and familiar existence in order to have more.
7) People around you: Surround yourself with a group of people who want you to succeed. They will move with you toward your goal. Choose and bond with people who have skills, talents and abilities that you do not. Winners give and receive by being part of other people's groups.
8) Action: Do it! People who succeed don't just sit and think about what they want to do. They take meaningful, purposeful, directional action consistently and persistently. Every step they take puts them toward the outcome they're looking for. Action, action, action! As much action as you can. Do, do, do. This can even mean skipping some TV time!
9) Priorities: People who consistently succeed manage their challenges by priorities. Commit to managing your time in such a way that does not allow you to spend time grinding along on priority numbers two or three if priority number one needs your attention and action.
10) Self-management: People who consistently succeed consciously take very good care of themselves. They are the most important resource they have in achieving their goals. They actively manage their mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. It is very important to take good care of yourself.
11) A controlled environment: It is vital that all the things and spaces around you are kept up, clean and organized! It is both mentally and spiritually soothing to be in an environment that is under control but most importantly order and disorder have a very strong psychological, mostly subconscious effect on us. Everyone has a certain amount of mental capacity. That is how much of your mind can handle at one time. Why is this important to understand? Because every piece of your environment that is not kept up, dirty, disorganized, not the way you want it is basically not under control. Every bit of it, no matter how small or how big, takes up some of your attention (part of your mental capacity) either consciously or subconsciously or both. That means that you have less of your mental capacity to focused your attention on anything like making conclusions and decisions, be creative, have the energy you need to face the day and your goals. Some people are so out of control that they can barely have the energy to get out of bed in the morning not to mention actually taking on their day and goals with PASSION!
Many people have an environment that is to some degree out of control and getting in under control can be a daunting task. For some it may even seem practically imposable. Please do not worry, it is doable even for the moderately disorganized pack rat. There is some very good news here. You see, getting control has an accumulative effect on your life. That is that the more control you accomplish the better things go in your life. Here is a big secret about getting control; Getting control over the little, simple, easy-to-do things makes it easier to get control over the bigger stuff. So start with the small, quick, easy-to-do stuff and the momentum will keep up its pace. You can even get help from a friend or family member but only as long as they will just help and be supportive and NOT CRITICIZE OR PUT YOU DOWN! This can be difficult enough without having more negativity put in your head. It may help to show them this article so they understand what you are working on accomplishing and why. Do as much as you can every day while continuing to do your regular chores and you will see it get better and better and you may be very surprised what big difference it makes.
